Mendenhall Glacier and Hatchery Tour:

            This is just a bus ride around the city with stops at areas such as a visitor’s center for the Mendenhall glacier and a salmon hatchery.

Deluxe Mendenhall and City Tour

            This is just a longer bus ride with a snack at the end.  It appears to be a combination of the previous (Mendenhall Glacier and Hatchery Tour) and subsequent (Rainforest Garden Adventure) tours.

Rainforest Garden Adventure

            This is a bus ride outside of the city.

Authentic Alaskan Salmon Bake

            This is a salmon barbeque with musical entertainment provided.  I would not recommend this because of the abundance of food available on the ship.  Also, during my cruise there two barbeques on board, a chicken-ribs one early in the cruise and a salmon one later in the cruise.

Pan for Gold and Gold History

            This is a bus ride to a tourist attraction where they will explain how to pan for gold, and the lives of prospectors, and you will get to try to pan for gold.

Flight to Taku Glacier Lodge

            This is a floatplane ride to a remote tourist lodge where you will be offered a meal and will be able to wander around outside seeing sights including a glacier.

Mount Roberts Tramway

            There is a cable car that travels from a station near the pier to the top of a mountain overlooking the city.  Signing up for this tour is just giving you an open ticket and just saves you the inconvenience of having to purchase tickets at the tram station. 

Mount Roberts Tram and Guided Alpine Walk

            This is an organized tour that involves a ride up the tramway and a ½ mile hike for at least 45 minutes.

Glacier Expedition Helicopter and Dog Sled

            This is a helicopter tour and ride to a glacier where you will take a dog sled ride.

Glacier Flightseeing Adventure

            This is a floatplane tour of nearby glaciers.  You will not get out of the plane.

Mendenhall Glacier Helicopter Tour

            This a helicopter trip to the top of a glacier.  You will get out of the helicopter and get to walk around on top of the glacier with spiked boots.

Glacier Explorer: Pilots Choice.

            This is a longer helicopter trip that involves two landings on glaciers and walks with spiked boots.

Glacier Expedition via Helicopter

            This is an intermediate duration helicopter trip with a landing on a glacier and a walk with spiked boots.

Mendenhall River Float Trip

            This is a trip on a large inflatable raft on a river with some rapids.  I met some people who took this tour, they had lots of fun and saw a great deal, but they got wet.

Juneau Wildlife Cruise

            This is a boat trip on a large enclosed boat.  I would not recommend this excursion because you are spending a week on an even larger enclosed boat.

Juneau Sportfishing Adventure

            If you enjoy fishing, I would recommend a sport fishing adventure in at least one port (they are offered in several ports).  These trips are very long, but involve combining the activity of sport fishing with sightseeing from a small boat.  Great fun even if you don’t catch anything.

Glacier View Sea Kayaking

            I took this tour, it was great.  You can review it in my explanation of my time in Juneau.  Link here.  This involves a kayak trip on a two-person kayak to a scenic bay fed by the Mendenhall Glacier.  There is lots of opportunity for wildlife sighting as well as extensive educational talks by the guides.

Channel Islands Kayak

            This is a very long kayak tour through very scenic waters of the Channel Islands.

Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure

            This is a scenic trip on the lake below a glacier in a 12-person canoe.  It involves paddling, though not as much as in kayaking.

Rain Forest Nature Walk

            This is a 1 ½ mile hike through a scenic forested area.

Guides Choice Adventure Hike

            This is a longer harder hike through scenic forested areas.

Glacier Trekking by Helicopter.

            This is a helicopter trip to a glacier where you will get the opportunity to ice climb with mountain climbing gear.
